Mr. Tom Quimby made lots of lemonade over the years in his food truck Tom's in the Dog House.
His presence at our events was always anticipated, so we were sad when he told us he has decided to
retire. Mr. Quimby has sold his lemonade stand and won't be at our Harvest Bazaar on Saturday. While
we will definitely miss him, we wish him nothing but the best. Mr. Quimby is one of the kindest, gentlest,
happiest, and busiest people I know! When life gave him lemons, he literally made lemonade!
There is much to be learned by observing someone like Tom Quimby. He is a husband, caregiver, father,
pastor, and entrepreneur. He is constantly on the go, always has somewhere to be, but never fails to take
time to chat and encourage. I always end my time with him feeling much more optimistic.
This season has been a challenging one not only at Heirloom Acres, but also across the farming community.
Weather has been either unseasonably wet, hot, cool, or dry. Crazy! Farmers may complain and worry, but they
always keep going and always keep hoping things will get better. And generally, they do get better. If not better, different!
No two years are ever the same.
Here at Heirloom Acres, we are finishing our third year of business and each year has brought new challenges and learning experiences. Sometimes I wish lessons could be learned without hardship, but that is rarely the case!
This spring's wet weather was devastating to our mum crop. But we have tried to take those lemons and make lemonade:
As a result of this loss, we are treating this as an opportunity to offer new fall plants, different mum sizes, and more fall decor
than we have in the past. We are anxious to hear what you think when you see our assortment! I hope you'll like our "lemonade".
